The Inspiration
We love great design… and tidy homes. Well, since having kids the last one proved to be a challenge. Sometimes we didn't know how to cope with the mess a busy family home all to often creates. We needed some practical furniture to help. We must be honest with you: It was hard to even find something that was functional, looked great and was well built. Well, the truth is it is almost impossible if you are a normal family with a normal income. That's why we came up with a solution ourselves and thought other homes – with or without kids – could benefit from our idea as well. SHELFIE was born and trust us, we have many more ideas for great plywood furniture in our pockets. Stay tuned.
The Team
The mastermind behind the SHELFIE design is Garrick. He has an engineer’s brain and wants everything to fit perfectly. After much trial and error, we were happy for our first SHELFIE-baby to see the light of the day and we love it. Alex has a background in the arts and convinced Garrick to go bold and colourful with the SHELFIEs. Together they created a brand around this cool piece of furniture with the vision that every Kiwi home needs a SHELFIE - to provide some organisation amongst the chaos. Their daughters Merida and Carlotta make the team complete, serving as main critiques and often courageously testing the SHELFIEs qualities (yes, they don´t fall down if your children hang from the hooks).
